The ADHD Brain: What Every Parent Should Know

Date: 21st October at 12pm

Location: Zoom

Recording available

ADHD can make much more sense when we understand what is actually happening in the brain.

In this accessible, practical webinar, Dr Claire Conlon, Clinical Psychologist, will take you inside the ADHD brain and explain some of the science behind the behaviours and challenges parents see every day.

We’ll explore why children with ADHD can concentrate brilliantly on some things but struggle enormously with others, why motivation can be so inconsistent, and why things like starting tasks, stopping activities, managing emotions, remembering instructions and getting through everyday routines can sometimes feel so difficult.

Most importantly, we’ll look beyond behaviour to understand the why.

Rather than asking “Why won't they just do it?”, we'll begin to understand what might be happening in their brain and body and how changing our approach can make everyday life easier for both children and the adults supporting them.

We’ll also begin translating that understanding into simple, practical strategies you can use at home to support attention, motivation, regulation and confidence.

This is a neuroaffirmative webinar. It isn't about fixing ADHD or trying to make an ADHD child behave more like a non-ADHD child. It's about understanding their brain, recognising both their strengths and their challenges, and giving them the support they need to thrive.

Understand the brain. Understand the behaviour. Support the child.
