Sarah O'Sullivan
Occupational Therapist
Hi I am Sarah. I have worked for many years in disability services and has vast experience working with children with various strengths and needs.
I have a Bsc Hons in Occupational Therapy and I'm an Advanced Practitioner in Sensory Integration. I am also Coru registered.
I have worked for over 17 years as an Occupational Therapist and extensively as part of paediatric teams completing therapeutic neurodiverse assessments. I have worked completing diagnostic assessments with children and families, including Developmental Coordination Disorder / Dyspraxia Assessments.Â
A cornerstone of my assessment approach is to help families understand their child’s specific strengths and needs to help support a child’s independence and development. I am very passionate about sharing information and education with families.
Occupational therapy assessment can help to us to understand a child’s strengths and their specific needs. The aim of an assessment is to understand why some activities might be challenging for a child either at home, in school or during play time / extra curricular activities. The assessment process will involve:
- Gathering information about your child from you and any other significant other people in their life e.g a class teacher
- This will help decide what assessment is most appropriate for your child at this time.
- An assessment can look at a child’s:
- Functional skills, i.e. how they manage everyday activities from self – care to homework etc
- Fine and gross motor skills
- Sensory processing / regulation
- Visual motor skills
- Organisation, concentration and attention.
A Full Diagnostic Assessment includes a comprehensive Occupational Therapy Report and recommendations.  All reports are accepted by HSE.
I also offer parent consultations that are 50 minutes and online. This session involves discussing 1 or 2 areas of concern that your child is having difficulty with. During the session you will be provided with advice, support and some helpful strategies. This may also involve signposting you to appropriate resources or services that can provide ongoing guidance and support. A follow up email with detail recommendations and advice is also included.Â
As with all our services, depending on your health insurance plan you can claim money back on this service.
